My definition is a simple one:

The Coach's sole aim is to work with the client to achieve the client's true maximum potential - as defined by the client". “Brief Coaching” offers practical, on-demand support in 30 minute sessions, so you can tackle challenges whenever they arise. You have the freedom to choose when you want to be coached and how. This cost effective “Brief Coaching” offering means you can access help whenever you need it – working as an "on-demand service" for managers, or individuals who might feel thrown in at the deep end of a big or complex challenge. 

By phone, skype or facetime when you are finding yourself in a professional situation (any or other of the above listed) where a sparing-partner could get you “unstuck” quickly and efficiently.
